Treorchy Wind Fund.

It is the fourth year of the Treorchy Wind Fund, financed by the local Maerdy Windfarm.  98 applications have been made and it is now up to the residents of Treorchy to decide how the £55,000 fund should be spent this year.

A public vote will take place at Treorchy Boys and Girls Club between  on Sunday 26th November. Treorchy Ward residents aged 15 and over are eligbile to vote. Please bring along proof of residency; such as a utility bill, driving licence or government letter.  If you are under 21 please bring proof of age.  It is Treorchy’s choice, please help decide.

Maerdy Windfarm is an eight turbine windfarm built in 2013 at the top of the Rhondda – see www.maerdywindfarm.co.uk for more information. The windfarm is equally funding two community funds: The Maerdy Wind Fund and the Treorchy Wind Fund.

A unique aspect of the fund is that it is democratic with successful grants being chosen through a public vote once a year.  Applications are invited from individuals as well as groups.  A minimum of just 10 votes are needed.  If you have a great idea please apply.

TREORCHY &CWMPARC BOYS & GIRLS CLUB NEED YOUR VOTES :

We have applied to the Treorchy Wind Fund for project funding in 4 different categories :

1. £500 for new non slip vinyl flooring for our new kitchen.

2. £1,000 for  recovering snooker and pool tables plus the addition of a new darts area.

3. £2,500 for purpose built seating area in the TV room so the children can relax and watch the footy etc.

4. £5,000 for us to erect ball stop fencing around the grassed area outside the club to make it a safer more usable area for the children, we will also be adding wooden picnic tables either side of the entrance and a set of goals to the bottom end for the kids to use, the unused wooden telegraph pole will also be removed to free up some space .

In order to secure the funding, the Boys club must be successful in a public vote.

It is therefore vitally important for our players, parents & supporters within that area to spread the word and vote for Treorchy & Cwmparc Boys & Girls Club if we are to be successful as there are 98 other applicants.

There's a map of the Treorchy Ward below along with our grant application posters.
